P2P Shield, IM Shield question

If I deselect the programs that I don’t have installed on the On-Access Protection, would I benefit at all or no?

In theory you would improve (very little) performance.
But you may remember later when you install a new P2P or IM program to enable it into avast settings, take care.

I only have 4 providers running, Standard Shield, Internet Mail, Web Shield and Network Shield, the rest are terminated (answer Yes to persist the changes). I don’t use P2P, IM or MS Outlook, so I don’t have a need for them, I haven’t gone to the extra step of completely removing them, they just don’t start on boot.

The savings in doing this is minimal, but I have always been of the view if you aren’t using it don’t run it and that applies to other applications also.

Totally agree, I have the same 4 running on my Vista.

Same 4 here too (I removed the others). I did hang on to the IM provider for a while, since I used to be active on ICQ, but all my friends there dropped out of touch plus I think today’s ICQ sure ain’t what she used to be.
