Hello,
I like to use Avast, I have pro version.
Couple of months ago I installed AVG Antivirus for my second scanner.
I’m using p2p(Limewire etc.) program to downloaded many programs.
I always use right click scan for downloaded folders before open them.
Well I trusted Avast before, now may be?! it was good scan for me, but there is so many p2p worm and Trojan viruses there, Unfortunately Avast can not catch them sometimes(NOT MOST TIME AVAST WORKS GOOD).
But, AVG always catch p2p worm and Trojan viruses, also today, I downloaded some program and I scanned using both Avast and AVG, well, Avast found nothing but AVG caught Trojan virus PSW banker? I forgot the name sorry.
So, I like to recommend that you need another scanner if you use p2p program to download some files. (AVG is free and real time protection too, automatic update almost everyday. RECOMMEND)
Thanks,
its called sharing eddy , and there`s thousands doing it , : and you actually agree to do it when you load the program
theft is when its done without your consent .
@Eddy: True i totally understand you but i’ve been a P2P user for a long time now and i haven’t seen a virus or any other kind of malware(except for a bad cookie here or there) on this PC for ages, besides i’m broke as hell i haven’t the money to buy alot of stuff but i’ll still buy a program if i really really like it(like avast! for instance) and same goes for movies and music and PC games… I’m using Azureus with SafePeer plugin in case anybody is wondering
@hch720: I hope you have the P2P shield enabled in avast! it does support On-Access scanning for Limewire i believe
Exactly, avast! P2P shield fully supports Limewire… and just to add… people don’t use P2P programs just to download pirate versions of programs, cracks, pathches and other stuff… people use them to share things. I use Azureus mostly to exchange some graphics and musics I made with my friends all around the world. Like I would ever put my music somewhere on my web space… Each song, even as mp3 is 3 to 12 Mb (high quality)… last 12 years I made more than 150 themes, songs, and music backgrounds for some intros, demos, programs, web sites, multimedia presentations, utilities and applications… can’t have them all on my web space. Sharing is a wonderful thing if you know how to use it
But there is a legal nag in sharing. The firm who produces and sells the original, only has an agreement with you to sell it to you. And they say then: "We sold it to you, and not to your wife, or aunt, or sharing partner. I cannot help it, but that is the reasoning of the law. And that is why you should pay for anything other then freeware. Of course it is your job to pay the lowest price, and when the work is free of rights you are entitled to a copy free. That is why they go on with protecting the software and blocking the reproduction (sometimes to an overkill sort of).
I would not know if the version is older, and the sharing production paid a contribution, and you could share bundles for a minimum prize, just like they do with old magazine portfolio’s. It could be an interesting new construction. It is just an idea.
I share my own stuff and not others… I produced (composed) more than 150 songs in last 12 years, more than thousands (literally) graphics (pictures, logos and other stuff), released hundreds of Flash (FLA, Action Script) sources/tutorials… No one is owner of those files except me… I am the author and I can do whatever I decide with them, so that’s why I mentioned, not all people are sharing illegal stuff.
I have some friends and I’m exchanging that stuff with them… it would be very annoying to send them everything using e-mail. Just my logos folder has more than 100 Mb, and it would be incredibly difficult to share it without P2P
Hello,
Thanks for all your replies.
I already activated p2p shield but sometimes it missed some p2p worm and viruses.
Thank you.
Dear Eddy,
I didn’t stole things from anyone, if you don’t want to share your music and applications you can change your sharing folder or you can add your empty folder to p2p program. I already sharing my hundreds of music.
