Hi,
i have been using avast for 3 months but i still don’t know whether avst scans all packed viruses as it’s default. If it isn’t could u tell me a way i could set it to scan all packed viruses.
Yes,avast! scans all know packed infectable files that are mostly *.exe executables (ASPack,UPX and so on)
Go to Resident task settings for the Standard Shiel protection.
In the tab ‘Scanner (Advanced)’:
- Check for scanning on ‘open’
- Check for scanning ‘created/modified’ files and write this line into the ‘created/modified’ box:
ACE,ARC,ARJ,BZIP2,CAB,COM,GZIP,PST,RAR,TAR,ZIP,ZOO,ECE
Hope this help
Technical, this is not enough if you have Home Edition. Compressed archives (ZIP,RAR,…) will be scanned as normal binary and not as compressed archive thus not detecting malicous content.
sorry, i was talking about the .exe packers.does avast scan all .exe packers in the home edition.
Yes,both avast! Pro and Home (+all other) can check packed executables.
