"PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA.."? Pl help me out..

For the past two months I have been having this problem… All of a sudden while am working, the system used to display a blue screen showing the following message…

"A problem has been detected & windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. The problem seems to be caused by the following file : aswmon2.sys

PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA (Stop Error Screen)
Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing…

Technical Info:
+++ STOP : 0X000000050----

Beginning dump of physical memory - …

… Physical Memory dump complete."

The path for this system file “aswmon2.sys” is C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers…

This is an Avast File system filter driver for WindowsXP…!

I am not sure what the root cause for this system error… Could you please help me out at the earliest…
Thanking you in anticipation…!

Does it happen randomly, or always during a specified operation?
First, I’d suggest to check your memory, e.g. using MemTest (http://www.memtest.org).
Second, you can sent the corresponding minidumps (from Windows\Minidup folder) to Vlk’s e-mail.

First of all thanq for ur reply…

As far as occurence is concerned I’m not sure… At times when I’m browsing Net continously for 1 or 2hrs, this problem comes… & It seems tht this occurs randomly & not every now & then & not during a specified operation…
& for ur information I deleted all those dump files in Minidump Folder som 2hrs back…

Could u kindly tell me the procedures to do tht Memtest…

Thanking u in anticipation…

Next time, please, keep them. Technicians could analyze them and say what’s going wrong.

Download the version for USB or floppy. Boot from that USB driver or floppy. Run the full test. Post the results (if any).

I did the MemTest … It did show some errors… But the test never concluded… It keeps on doing several tests… I thought it would stop somewhere & it would generate a final report stating the Errors… But it never did… Infact I left the test process to continue for almost 10 hrs during which the test nos incremented from 1 to 135… Then aftr tht I stopped the process…

I dunno how to send u the Report tht U asked for… May u kindly help me…

Which ones?

It is a loop test. Limit the number of passes. Maybe 20, maybe 50 will do it.

ThanQ Tech…

May I know whether ANY FINAL REPORT will be generated in MemTest… Else how can I inform u abt those errors & post the result… ?

If Memtest displayed errors than there’s probably something wrong with you ram. Do you have it overclocked, or your cpu maybe ? Open up your case and see if it’s hot …

I don’t remember. I’ve used it very little and a long time ago…

Do you have it overclocked, or your cpu maybe ?

Hi Darth Mikey, may I know what u mean by Overclocked? I’m unaware of this word…

& also I ran the Memtest today morning also for some 10 mins…

The following errors were displayed…

ERROR SUMMARY

Pl kindly help me out @ the earliest…

Thanking You…

Overclock is an advanced procedure to improve/increase your computer clock frequency (speed).
Seems that your memory stick is damaged. Can you replace it (them)?

either bad config for memory timing in mainboard BIOS or faulty memory (or used together different noncompatible memory sticks)

Tech,
How to put in Overclock(to increase computer speed)…?? Wht are de procedures involved in it…
& by Memory Stick do u mean RAM… ?

Dwarden,
How to overcome this - Bad config for memory timing in mainboard BIOS or Faulty memory… ??
Whats the solution for this…?

Extremely advanced steps, with high level of risk (hardware failure), so it’s not for common or even just ‘advanced’ users.

Yes.

Change the stick (the RAM).

Dear Guys,
ThanQ for all ur prompt Replies… Catch u guys, aftr changing the stick…

   Have a nice time..

   Bye.

Is there any other solution for this problem apart frm changing the Memory stick…

Atleast any temporary solutions…?? since I’ve some financial problem in buying a new memory Stick…

Use only one stick until you can buy (change for) another one.
Can you do that or the new RAM is just a single stick?
Can you turn back to the old stick (the one which was working)?

Tech,
I’ve only one RAM which is a single stick… & I dont have any replacement for this as of now since I’ve been using this stick fo the past 3yrs…

    Any other solution Tech..

IF the problem is on the stick, I see no other solution than a replacement…
