Page Won't Load

Avast Secure Browser wouldn’t load a web page. I had to turn off Anti-Fingerprinting to get it to load. I couldn’t find any help about pages not loading in Avast Support or on the Forum. The page was a login for school, so may have required the Anti-Fingerprinting to be off for it to work correctly, but finding no help and trying various setting changes was a pain. Avast should have help in their Support section on what to do when a page won’t load.

Here is how to turn off Anti-Fingerprinting:

  1. Get to the Security & Privacy page by doing one of the following:
    A. Click on the Avast symbol, (“a” in the orange blob) in the upper right corner of the browser next to the url address space.
    Or
    B. Click on the menu symbol in the upper right corner of the browser next to the url address space (three vertical dots).

  2. Find the Anti-Fingerprinting box. At the bottom of it is an indicator which is a circle in a small horizontal space (called a slider). If the circle has a check-mark in it and is green then Anti-Fingerprinting is turned on. Click on the circle or the space to turn it off. When turned off the circle will have an “x” in it and the space will be grey.

  3. Close the Security & Privacy Center by clicking on the “x” in the browser tab at the top, or in my
    version key press works.

This feature is off by default. Knowing what a feature does helps to know when to use that feature and when it should not be used.
