Paid for support and down loads but nothing happens

What’s with Avast.
Site wanted $19 a year (sounded reasonable)for tech
support and downloads.
When I got the confirmation for payment and activation
the site was blank and does nothing. :o

Did I get ripped off? Going to my bank to recoup
funds today and file an attempt at fraud on the internet. 8)

I believe the question is - what was the site where you purchased the license?

The installer is downloadable for free from our web pages, and on purchase you receive the license key by e-mail…

I paid at what I THOUGHT was a legitimate site.
Is there a fee for both tech support and downloads?

Somewhere in those frustrating hours I saw a list
of fraudulent sites that pose as Avast.

When I paid and got the confirmation numbers for
the “purchase” I tried to open the link they provided.
It just sat on an empty page.

The notice said it would take only 15 minutes. About
4 hours later I was able to sign on after trying the free
download on the Avast site and was sent a registration
key. Should I have had to pay for “tech support”
and “download”? I still think there is something suspicious.

The free Home version there is no charge, for a legit version of the Pro version, support and downloads (virus signature and program updates during that year) are included in the annual license fee.

If you answer Igor’s question where you purchased the license.

Check… http://www.avast.com/eng/faq-invalid-license-number.html

No.

katman, there are no costs whatsoever for support for avast. No mather what version you have. Support is free as you can see at this webboard.

$19 for avast?
Avast Home is free. There is no avast version that costs $19.

Are you scammed?
Yes, definatly.

Is i strange?
No, not at all. Many people are (like you) just say “yes” without thinking or doing any research.

is this where you got the scam from???
its not legit@

The site your were on did seem to contain ADs such are the garfield thing therefor it was a fake site any real website hosted by trusted people would not do this

Sorry colour me confused we haven’t got a clue what site katman was on as he didn’t answer our questions as to what site he was on.

I don’t know what you are on about when you mention ads and garfield thing, presumabely you mean drhayden1’s avatar which is garfield ???

The Image of the site he think it might be is only that what he thinks it might be based on the original $19 price mentioned by katman.

I’m going to my bank and turn this over to the
authorities. Thanks for the information. I think
Avast should report fake sites to the FBI internet
fraud section. I am for sure. Will post updates from
my bank and the FBI.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the update.

However, you still haven’t mentioned the site you were duped at, with that information, at the very least avast can add that to the fraudulent sites list.

I am sure the Avast Team want info about fake sites, so you should contact them about the site you bought avast from.

Here is a list about fake sites:
