What’s with Avast.
Site wanted $19 a year (sounded reasonable)for tech
support and downloads.
When I got the confirmation for payment and activation
the site was blank and does nothing. :o
Did I get ripped off? Going to my bank to recoup
funds today and file an attempt at fraud on the internet. 8)
I paid at what I THOUGHT was a legitimate site.
Is there a fee for both tech support and downloads?
Somewhere in those frustrating hours I saw a list
of fraudulent sites that pose as Avast.
When I paid and got the confirmation numbers for
the “purchase” I tried to open the link they provided.
It just sat on an empty page.
The notice said it would take only 15 minutes. About
4 hours later I was able to sign on after trying the free
download on the Avast site and was sent a registration
key. Should I have had to pay for “tech support”
and “download”? I still think there is something suspicious.
The free Home version there is no charge, for a legit version of the Pro version, support and downloads (virus signature and program updates during that year) are included in the annual license fee.
If you answer Igor’s question where you purchased the license.
The site your were on did seem to contain ADs such are the garfield thing therefor it was a fake site any real website hosted by trusted people would not do this
I’m going to my bank and turn this over to the
authorities. Thanks for the information. I think
Avast should report fake sites to the FBI internet
fraud section. I am for sure. Will post updates from
my bank and the FBI.
However, you still haven’t mentioned the site you were duped at, with that information, at the very least avast can add that to the fraudulent sites list.
