Parasite.js

Hi

I am using 64bit Home Premium Win 7 wthe Comodo Firewall+HIPS and Avast 6.0.1 free.

This morning when I booted Comodo Hips popped up the following message “Parasite.js attempting to modify Avast Temp File”

I then had the opportunity to allow or block it. By the time I had dithered about what to do the alert disappeared. So no action was taken.

Can anyone advise what this Parasite.js is, and do I have a problem with this attempted modification of the Avast TEMP Folder

Thanks

Terry

Hi Tech

Thanks for your reply.

I have had a look at the site and it appears that it (Parasite.js) is benign, indeed friendly.

So where did parasite.js come from? I did not knowingly install it on my computer. Is it a component of Avast or included in some other software. Remember this Comodo HIPS pop up occurred immediately after Win 7 bootup and was the first time I ever saw mention of Parasite.js

I cannot recall whether I had opened my web browser at the time, but could this parasite.js be part of a website armoury?

Thanks for your help.

ps I have done a full bootscan of my pc it is showing clean as well as with Superantispyware.

TerryWood, maybe trying the Comodo forums about CIS detection…
