I’ve lost my password to change Avast setting. Anybody can help me please. I’m suffering a lot for it. I can’t connect with any other network for it. Please somebody help me how can I retrieve the password please.
Unless it’s a shared computer, why have a password that gets forgotten in the first place ???
The easiest way is to do a full removal of avast and a re-install. You’ll find a link with instructions in my signature.
Removal is also not possible because it ask for password.
It is (should be) possible if you use the avast uninstall utility, as it will boot into safe mode and remove avast from there, use that when you reinstall.
Download the latest version of avast and save where it can be found later:

Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, avastclear.exe http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avastclear.exe and save it to your HDD.

- Now uninstall avast! - using add remove programs/Programs & Features, if you can’t do that (as appears to be the case) start from the next step, reboot.- 2. run the avast! Uninstall Utility, it will request it be run from safe mode (and will handle the boot into safe mode), once complete reboot into normal mode.- 3. install the latest version, reboot.
Note: save the copy of avastclear.exe so it can be reused as some users are reporting that after running it, it is self-deleting.

David, While you are right, you aren’t fully right!
There are other options.
Boot into Safe Mode > Locate aswresp.dat > Delete it, reboot.
I was basically following up in the OPs post - e.g. what I quoted.
Whist that is another option and one we tend not to use - if used there is no need to bot into safe mode - disabling the avast self-defence module should suffice to do it.
