I tryed to go in to and stop the voice from telling me that my virus database has been updated and Avast asked for a password. I just installed this on a new Win7 build. I have never been asked for a password before and do not recall setting one up after DL’ing the home version. I have been using Avast for at least 8 years and this is a first for me, any suggestions?

Is it possible that you accidentally clicked the Set/Change Password option ?
If so and you cancelled it, then it may have null/blank set as a password, so just clicking Enter/Return would get past that.
However, if it is a negative to the above, effectively your only option is a reinstall.
A clean reinstall would perhaps be best:
Download the latest version of avast http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html and save it to your HDD, somewhere you can find it again. Use that when you reinstall. Ensure that you scroll down and select the avast direct download link for the English version and not Cnet as that is for an on-line installation (not what you want to do). - Direct download for avast Home, English version, http://files.avast.com/iavs4pro/setupeng.exe.
Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, find it here and save it to your HDD.
