I recently downloaded the free Avast software. After installing it, I created a password for access. The password worked fine for a while. I started a full scan virus check and needed to pause it for a minute. It asked for my password to pause the scan. I inputted it and it accepted it. Then when I was ready to restart the full scan virus check a minute later, it asked me for the password again and, when I tried to put in the password, it came up with a message saying wrong password. I have tried to input the password many times and it still comes up. In addition, I tried to uninstall Avast from my computer and it still asks for the password. How do I fix this issue? >:(
Ordinarily this would entail reinstalling avast, you may be able to remove a file C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\aswresp.dat. Before you can delete it you would need to disable the avast self-defence module.
If that doesn’t work you would need to boot into safe mode, where avast doesn’t start and remove it.
