Password Problem

Ok, I must be really dumb. I have downloaded the trial version, updated password. I try to open settings to hopefully schedule full scans, and I get a password error, and settings does not open. Can someone tell me what in the world I am doing wrong, please?

if you have password protected avast and lost it, then you need to reinstall
