Password-Protected Archives Preventing Complete Scans? PLEASE HELP?

Hello, one and all, I’ll try to make this as clear and simplistic as possible to avoid over-explaining. I apologize in advance if any of my questions seem pushy or rude. I’m just very concerned for my computer.

The 25th of October, I ran a boot-time scan with avast!, and it resulted in “no virus found”. In the past two days, I’ve tried scanning my computer twice with the “Full System Scan” option, and each one resulted in “some files could not be scanned”.

Now, granted, I did have to cut the first scan short - which only lasted three hours. However, this only began happening recently. I feel I should also point out that I’ve been experiencing lag issues with Mozilla Firefox (latest version), though I do not know if these two issues are in any way related.

The status of each file name, which I click “View Results”, is “Error: Archive is password protected”. I’m NOT very computer-knowledgeable concerning these topic-types. I have not “applied” any of the action for the files on the second screenshot you’ll see below.

Here are my primary questions.

  1. What exactly is password-protected here, and why is this causing issues? (What does this all mean?)
  2. WHY is this causing an issue now? I’ve NEVER encountered this issue prior to the past couple of days, and I’ve been using avast! well over a year.
  3. Perhaps most importantly, what can I do to resolve this issue?

IMPORTANT: I have attached screenshots below, and labeled each of them.

Above is the screenshot detailing the results after each scan I’ve recently ran.

Here’s the screenshot of the file-names and the statuses.

Thanks, and please use step-by-step, easy-to-follow instructions if any of you have a solution.

Thanks, God bless and be safe, be it His will!

avast is just giving you a scan error report telling you it could not scan those files and the reason why…in your case password protected…and it is normal
many programs protect there files with passsword, like adobe, security programs etc etc
files that can not be scanned are just that…it does not mean they are infected
in your case the all seem to be located in IE temp folder…empty your temp folders and it should be gone for this time
