used my laptop at work today and ais was fine,got home stated the laptop up and theres a red x on ais in system tray.i have it password protected and when i try to enable shieds or open ais i type my password(its the correct one)its says wrong password?

yeah that’s normal, because for some reason avast services don’t run…and the password protection controls the modules interface…when they run. You would see that in safe mode you get the same result, and if you access areas that are not passworded settings changes aren’t retained, again because services don’t run in safe mode.
This said, what really matters in your situation is why avast services stopped running…and I honestly have no idea ???
