I cannot sign into PayPal now that I have Avast. I placed the URL in the list so that it would take it but to no avail.
avast doesn’t block, it monitors and detects virus infection and alerts you to it. Also if you are starting at a https: web page, avast doesn’t monitor secure connections as they are encrypted. The Web Shield only monitors http content, so it is likely to be something like cookie blocking that is causing this.

I understand that it does not block but nothing has changed except for Avast. When I go back to Norton it works fine.
I have no problems signing in to paypal with avast on.
I think you may have said the magic words here Norton, there may well be a possibility that Norton wasn’t fully removed when uninstalled (tougher to get rid of than a virus).
