Unfortunatelly I can’t help you… seems that you’re not receiving mail but you must check if the firewall release the access for avast and your email program… Maybe you can set the value Log=20 into the section [MailScanner] of avast4.ini file, then generate some traffic, simulate the problem (i.e. force the avast mail scanner to time out by sending an email with attachment) and then post here the contents of the file \data\log\aswMaiSv.log or send to Alwil for anylisis.
1] If you have made changes to avast4.ini in the past for your mail, undo them
2] setup your email in OE as if avast isn’t there
3] reboot and see if the problem is solved or not.
