PC freezing at windows login 95% of the time

I have had an issue where my PC will freeze when i go to log into windows 95% of the time. However i never have any issues when using safe mode. That being said, I do not feel like it is a hardware issue and after doing some reading i have found people having a similar issue with their PC’s using Malware Bytes. I’m just wondering if it is something with Avast that is causing this to happen maybe an update they rolled out that is not playing nice with my OS.

By the way I am running Windows 7 Pro (64-Bit)

If safe mode works then do a clean boot to normal windows and then re-enable the services one at a time to determine where the error lies

In the search box type Msconfig and select the programme that appears at the top

1.In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click Selective Startup on the General tab.

3.Click the Services tab.
4.Click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box.
