PC hanged after avast notification

Hello
I had yesterday very strange problem. I’ve inserted to my PC an infected pendrive. Of course avast caught it and spammed me, informing about the danger. As the notification messages proceed, I decided to open the pendrive manually to check out if it was a real alarm. Then my PC hanged. Unfortunately, I couldn’t do anything so I resetted PC.

And now my question is:
Is it possible that it was a normal virus behaviour? I mean, is it possible that viruses detected on pendrive hanged the PC to make me unable to prevent their incoming?
Or it was avast failure? I have already had small problem when avast hanged causing all the system to become unstable and hand at all.

Tell me honestly please :P:
was it avast failure or virus behaviour?

Could be both or any of them. The avast hang could be “generated” by the malware and the computer hang is caused by the malware. But I don’t think it’s an avast failure itself. Do you know the virus name? Can you submit the infected file to www.virustotal.com and post back the results?

Well, there were really SO many popups informing about the viruses. As I remember well, all of them were marked as trojan horses, but I don’t pay attention to virus names. I always try to check the infected file name. Unfortunately, I didn’t write down their names because my PC hanged after I tried to display pendrive contents :(. I remember only that some of infected files was called “2.exe” and “2.com”. Once I googled this, I found out that it’s something like keylogger? I don’t know, because I have never had any virus on my PC, so I don’t really know how to delete such worms. Moreover, my PC has NEVER hanged or it hangs when I overclock the CPU :P. But never in such situations. That’s why I’m worried a bit :P.
