I’m affraid you’ll have to repair your Windows installation. Been there done that million of times on customer’s PCs… of course it could be something else, but first thing that comes to my mind, is… your Windows installation got corrupted. It could be the effects of some raging virus and it could be millions of other things. I remember it always runs in circles, and no matter what you do, it always reboots your system after certain point of loading of OS. Only one time in 10-20 attempts of booting into safe mode, was successful, but as soon as you log-in into Windows, it reboots again…
Use your original Windows XP cd, but DO NOT do anything before you carefully read this:
well what is strange about this is my buddy across the street gave me a cd-dvd software when i installed it it asked for a restart so i restarted the pc and this is when this all started so could it be a virus or a still use what is mentioned above
First thing you can do, is take that CD-DVD and check it somewhere to see if it contains any nasties, like viruses etc. Second, if it has some viruses take it to your friend and tell him that he has to be more careful when he releases something from his computer. He ever heard of antiviruses ? Well, he should check all those CD’s before he gives those to someone else as well…
As far as checking of your computer from bootable CD goes, you can use Bart CD, also from Alwil…
