It is now a few days that every first time I start my internet connection after starting the pc, Avast sends following warnings… Looks like my pc is trying to connect to a site automaticaly or??
Can anyone help?
Thanks.
PS:guess I also need tips on how to join a oic in my post without having to attach a document!!
It looks like you have an undetected trojan downloader on your system and avast’s web shield provider is intercepting them when it tries to download them. The other on in your Temp files may have been on your system already.
What is your firewall ?
As a firewall should stop these unauthorised outbound internet connections (XP’s firewall has no outbound protection).
If you haven’t already got this software (freeware), download, install, update and run it, preferably in safe mode.
I’m using XP and have therefore downloaded avg anti-spyware. I have updated and scanned the PC.
I have restarted the PC and did not get any problems when connecting to internet.
Look like I was missing a firewall…
Many thanks for the help
This firewall is free for only 30 days. Schould I buy it, download every month or is it enough if I update it manually?
Can you schedule a boot-time scanning?
Start avast! > Right click the skin > Schedule a boot-time scanning.
Select for scanning archives.
Boot.
If infected files are found, it’s safer to send them to Chest instead of deleting them.
This way you can further analysis them.
I’m not so familliar with all these softwares security issues as I’m only a few hours a day on the internet at home. Why do you suggest a scheduled boot-time scanning? What is it doing?
The firewall I’ve downloaded is the one suggested by DavidR: avg anti-spyware.
It scans all the files (without access restriction) in the computer. You’ve said that avast found some infections and then your computer was good. I’m only trying to be sure…
