Hey guys.
So, I know if I have a PC not residing on my local network in contact with the Avast server it will update definitions etc. via the internet (instead of using my local avast server) but, what about license information?
- If I receive a new licensefile how can / will i get that out to the PC if its not on the local network anymore? (specifically thinking of my boss’ laptop PC that he now uses mostly at home and we also have a laptop PC that is not setup for logging onto our domain).
Will avast retrieve the license info through the internet if the PC isn’t on the local network or could it be made possible to do this so I dont have to have him bring the PC back to work for redeployment etc.?

If you’ve installed the client by SBC console, in this client was install automatically the license file and you can go out of your network without problem with license.
If you haven’t yet installed the license on this client, you can always insert the license file in the SUBSCRIPTION page of program.

Hi Giorgio.
You are correct
But the problem is not the installation but what problems arrise when I receive a new license file (which i do every 3 month), then I have to go around to all 20 of the laptops that are no longer on our administrative local network and manually inserting a new license file is very very time consuming ;;
If the clients could grab the licensefile via a http request it would make it all much more versatile and up-2-date in regards to devices like pads and other mobile devices in general.

Ok I understand…
But MAYBE is impossible to resolve your problem!
The only advise I have for you is distribute the license file by mail or thru web, and once you have dowloaded it, just a double click to install…

Hi Gergio.
Thank you for a fast reply
Yeah I know the problem isn’t something that can be solved / developed over night
-
I know that symantec has made this feature lately to support the market of mobile devices which are getting more and more popular with private customers as well as with corporate users.
-
Not to push your buttons in regards to symantec, personally I hate symantec products
-
I’m just saying that they are recognizing the growing mobile market and are focusing on software development in regards to pushing license files etc. via a http request to for instance smartphones. Maybe (just maybe) Avast will / could do the same sometime in the future
-
Anyways, if this feature is ever implemented it would be really great and also solve a major problem in regards to managing and protecting mobile devices like pads and smartphones etc.
/Cheers for hoping for the future ^^
Kind Regards
Michael
