Hi
My PC is on a wireless connection on a local home netwrok. Just recently I noticed my upload/download numbers from my provider went skyhigh. I installed netmeter and found that, even when no internet programs (explorer, vuze, etc) are open, it is still uploading and downloading from the internet ar 15-20 kb/s and the totals just keep creeping up. Ihave scanned with Avast and adaware, but to no avail. Neither picks anything up.
In case you are using Windows XP’s firewall, please consider installing a firewall to monitor your Inbound and Outbound processes. Examples are (please pick one only):
[*]PcTools
[*]Agnitum Outpost
[*]Online Armor
Moreover, please note that use of P2P applications have many disadvantages. Especially because it poses security risks that you are allowing other users to access your files without your knowledge. Read more here.
Thanks
I will download one and try it out, but I thought if I wasnt logged onto Vuze, IE etc, and I have WEP on my wireless, then access was blocked - or am I being naieve?
