PC!!

Mac OS X Leopard and Microsoft Windows Vista, which one the best?I look for many information about these two OS system, many of them say Mac computer is better than Microsoft. Why?I want to know because i refuse to buy a best OS computer…

No one will ever be able to give you perfectly objective answer to this question, so I personally don’t think we should ask questions like this.

First of all whoever wrote this line you just posted: “…many of them say Mac computer is better than Microsoft…”, he/she has no clue what is he talking about. Mac is a computer, hardware equipment, and Microsoft is a software corporation… those two terms can not even be compared. If you want to compare computers than you should go either this way:

  • Mac ↔ PC (even though PC stands for Personal Computer which Mac also is one of), or…
  • Apple ↔ Microsoft or…
  • OS X ↔ Windows

I have both so I can be kind of objective… In my opinion OS X Leopard is far more advanced and far more secure OS than Windows (even though there is no bullet proof OS out there, we all know that very well). But from the “user enjoyment” stand of point, working in OS X is so pleasant it is simply indescribable. Besides, everything simply works the way I need it to work. If there is some application for Windows, there is almost always a version for OS X… if that’s not the case, there is always some good replacement.

The best thing with these new Mac Intel machines is that you can run Windows natively, so no emulation, no simulation, nothing… pure Windows. I can do that anytime I want because when I purchased this latest OS X version called Leopard, I also got BootCamp, a software that allows you to install legal copy of Windows on another partition. Yet, I never felt any need to do that…

Hi Sasha,
Even this statement is open to a discussion:

In my opinion OS X Leopard is far more advanced and far more secure OS than Windows

Since I don’t own OSX Leopard, I can’t comment on it’s superiority over the Windows operating systems.

The main reason OSX is more secure is because it’s only installed on a very very small percentage of the overall computer market share.
There aren’t many hackers that waste their time attacking such a system simply because the effect isn’t great enough to
give them their “jollies”. ;D

The same also holds true for the Linux operating system.
However, as you’ve already stated, there is no totally secure operating system and the only way to stay safe,
is to form safe habits.
Only frequent safe websites. Only download from safe websites. Keep your system up-to-date.
Use recognized security programs and keep them up-to-date.
When you stray from these safe habits, you will eventually get burned regardless of the operating system your using.

Do not forget that OS X is built on UNIX, so that tells a lot as well… Even it’s not bullet proof as I already mentioned, it is still far more secure than Windows.

Only because it’s attack rate is far less.

Unix based are by nature more secure than Windows by design not by market share

One Example: When you setup any Unix based system you do not automatically run with admin privileges by default.

As already Pointed out Macs Can dual boot Windows so what really matters is what Hardware do you prefer? If you enjoy building your Own systems then the Mac Platform is not for you.

By the way, Alwil makes Avast for Both Operating systems.
