PDF files

Recently started using Avast, Love it…except I can no longer open PDF files from the web. I keep getting the “little red x”. I tried using firefox and IE, no help. Java is up to date. I am also using Adobe Acrobat 5.0.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

What makes you think that it’s avast!? I have no problems opening pdf’s.
By the way, the current version for Acrobat is now 7.

have no problem opening pdf’s here either… using either IE or Firefox… works with both

maybe try updating Acrobat… see if that helps ya

No problems here either, using Mozilla Suite. Could be a problem with the older version, or a plug-in problem? Though it seems it should download the pdf and ask you what to do with it, if the browser doesn’t automatically open pdfs with adobe ??? …

Does it fail with all sites with pdf links, all the time?

You may also want to try Foxit pdf reader: http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php

I am also still using Adobe Acrobat 5.0 without any problems in IE or FF.

I have noticed that FF downloads to your Temp folder

I have no problems either (Acrobat Reader 7.0), there is a setting in either Acrobat or IE that you can stop the opening of pdf files on the web. You should check out that first.
