What Operating System, Avast Program and version are you using ?
Can you be more detailed in what Scan it is you are doing and at what stage does the problem occur.
I suspect you are running a Smart Scan ?
If so:
With a resident (on-access) scanner the need for on-demand scans is much depreciated. For the most part dormant/inert files are being scanned, the other active files are going to be scanned by the resident shields when they are activated.
The Smart Scan isn’t an exception, often all it finds are issues which it feel the purchase of other Avast Products might resolve.
