PFN_LIST_CORRUPT bluescreen

Hey,

Im currently reformatting a pc for my neighbour who still ran Windows 98. I upgraded the pc a little and installed Win2000 Pro with all the latest updates.

Though, when i install avast on the pc I keep getting a bluescreen saying “PFN_LIST_CORRUPT”

According to Microsoft:

CAUSE: This behavior occurs because a driver or other problem damaged the input/output (I/O) driver structures.

Does anyone know what could cause this? or should i try XP?

If you reformat, install a fresh Win2000, it should work…

Are you using any other antivirus? Other security application in this computer? Firewall?

I formatted 3 times, keep having them. the only things installed were all the updates, winrar and then avast
