I think people over react to piracy… Software prices are quite high… If software is sold at cheaper prices then maybe piracy could be reduced
Yes software prices are high, but so too are many other items, but I’m guessing you wouldn’t go out and steal them. The same is true with software piracy, it is theft.
There are plenty of freeware options for most software, not so much on the entertainment arena, games, etc. as the cost of development is very high, if everyone just pirated what they wanted, then there would be no money for development and no new games/software and developers out of work, etc.
Whilst that is the extreme end of the consequences, but it still ends up the same, if you can’t afford something you find something that you can afford and not steal it. If no one buys the expensive software but their competitors products, then market forces prevail and drive prices down.
Since this is the official avast support forum, there is no way they would condone piracy or the suggestion that it is OK to suggest it is.

There is no positive side to theft and would be no defence if you happened to end up in court.
