Please answer my question? ):

So here it goes.

When I got my computer it had already had Avast Avtivirus Professional edition on it, and I think last year when it was expiring I renewed it or something. (Cause I think it popped up with that option.) And now, again, my antivirus expired. BUT- The thing is I read somewhere it sends you an email about it and having the option to renew it, yadda, yadda. The thing is though, I think I may have deleted that email thinking it was news or something. ): So here I am now wanting to renew the lastest pro edition and kind’a confused on how to go about that. Is there a link someone can give me? Or should I just go to the site and re-buy it? I’m just way confused, cause I already have it downloaded and I have no idea where to go. Should I click the purchase or download one? Cause I have it downloaded already… I just wanna RENEW it. :l I know these questions sound dumb, but if someone could help me that would be great! Please!

You could write to support@avast.com if you don’t get an answer here.

You may or may not be aware that avast! has a free version for home use that has the same engine as the professional edition. That’s what I use and I love it. The professional edition has a few more bells and whistles but the virus protection is virtually the same.

You may like the professional edition and want to stay with it, but the home version’s an option that might work for you if you’re a home user.

See if this is what your looking for:

Yeah, I may download the home edition to save the fourty dollars. (Which I could use.) :stuck_out_tongue: Granted, I would like the best, but if everyone thinks that the home edition is just as good then I might as well. I just want good protection for my computer. And all I really do on my computer is browse the web a little and game. So would you suggest home edition for me?

Welcome to the forums, Ellissa.

The Home version of avast should be good enough for you. I used Home for 5 years before getting the Pro version earlier this year as my situation changed. As was stated above, Home & Pro use the exact same engine and virus definitions.

Yes, I would suggest you home edition. I my self recently bought the pro license to support ALWIL team, as they help me with Home Edition nicely for years.

You only need to register it here: http://www.avast.com/eng/home-registration.php

And copy-paste the license to your avast program, it would be changed/downgrade to home edition automatically, so you do not need to download it again.

Grr, now I’m kind’a confused. I went to download the Home version and when I went to install it it asked a couple of options, like, “Change, unistall, or update, etc.” I hit change and it said there was a error while changing the product configuration. So… what now? lol Should I just uninstall my pro edition then download home or wha?

I feel kind’a retarted, lol. Maybe a step by step thing would be nice.

Elissa,

First of all, you do not need to reinstall the home edition. Just copy-paste the home license key, and it should be downgrade from pro to home edition automatically.

If you prefer clean install, please uninstall the pro edition. Follow the instruction here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=36921.0 OR http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=36568.0

Then, after you sure you complete the uninstall, install the home edition.

Oh. I just wasn’t sure how to get and paste the home license key, but I’ll read up on the site about it. Sorry, it’s late and I’m spacey atm. :l lol

Ellissa,

You can register for free Home Edition here: http://www.avast.com/eng/home-registration.php then the license will send to your email shortly. Try to find the license key in your mailbox after you register, and copy it.

Then you see the avast’s “a” icon on the taskbar? Its spinning sometimes. Right click on it, and chose “About avast!”

On the new window, there is a button on the right bottom to insert license key (just on left of “OK” button). Click on it, and paste you new license.

Yeah. I’m doing that. I registered just waiting a while to get the email for my key, lol. :stuck_out_tongue:
