Having had to uninstall Avast (paid version) a couple of times over the last few days due to Safezone not functioning at all, I now find that I cannot insert my license code when I have downloaded Avast again. Each time I try it tells me I have reached my limit for the activation code. Any ideas what I do now as I have over 270 days left on the paid version?
Many thanks for your help in advance
This does not seem to be a technical issue but rather a sales one.
For sales and related matters, licenses renew, refunds, open a ticket: https://support.avast.com. Please, understand that the forum users can’t address these issues.
login to https://my.avast.com
delete the devices listed and only add the device you have now
That should solve it.
Thank you so much Eddy for your reply. I have done what you suggested and deleted the extra accounts which were obviously created each time I reinstalled Avast, but unfortunately it has not fixed the problem for me. It is still stating that 'unfortunately the number of applications has reached its limit
Being a novice I do learn something new each time I read this forum though so thank you all for your input.
Sorry, forgot to thank you too Lisandro for replying to my query.
It can take a bit of time before the changes on my.avast.com take effect although it seems instantly on the website.
I would say wait 1 or 2 days before adding your current device to your account.
Sorry but that won’t work.
edt, go here and retrieve your license as a .avastlic file https://www.avast.com/en-us/resend-license-paid.php
The number of activations using the activation code is indeed restricted to a number I don’t recall but I believe is 5
The license file can be reinstalled as many times as needed/wanted.
hmm, it did work for several people.
Does this mean that when you have the license resend it is different from the one someone already has ?
Or is the license file always the same, but the activation code has a limitation ?
The license re-sent is the same license file users get when they first purchase it. The license file can be re-used as many times as needed, but the activation code is limited to, I believe, 5 times.
Surely using the license.avastlic as many times as you like would be the same as using the activation code, which I would presume is contained within the license and is extracted when you use the license file.
Or is the activation code completely separate from the license file ?
If so - To me that doesn’t make sense having a restriction on the activation code but not on the license file use. Not that I’m advocating a restriction on the license file use, but to allow the same unlimited use on the activation code.
Agree with no restrictions on activation since the user already has a valid licence. Total machine usage limit should be sufficient if the licence is paid for, so it would not be possible to run more than three machines on the same licence at the same time, if that is what an user has. If free, the licence would be for a single user, good for 1 year and registered at only one email address.
Process for cleaning up and fixing program errors and failures within avast should not be made more complicated than it already is when the need to resort to a clean install is called for.
Is there a workaround for this user?
[EDIT:] Since the need to re-install was caused by Safe Zone Browser not working as it should, suggest you go here to check to see if you’ve other issues with your system, and start a new topic here: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=4.0

As SafeZone is not functioning : Is the OP using MBAM Premium, or has he activated the trial ?
Greetz, Red.
Thanks Rednose
Yes I am using MBAM premium. Is this what you think could be restricting the Safezone facility? I am afraid I am a novice so please explain in the simplest of terms if you could. ;D
Hi edt
There is a known issue between SafeZone and MBAM Premium. Try this :
- First go to : Avast! - Settings - Active Protection - File System Shield - Customise - Exclusions - Add … and add the following list of Malwarebytes programs. This list is specific to Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0.
For 32-bit Windows Vista or Windows 7 or Windows XP:C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exe
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exe
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamscheduler.exeFor 64 bit versions of Windows Vista or Windows 7 or Windows 8:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamscheduler.exe
-
Next go to : Avast! - Settings - Active Protection - Tools - SafeZone - Customise - Reset SafeZone - Yes … etc.
-
Than reboot your system, and let me know if that works for you.
Greetz, Red.
Hi Red
Done all of that but no difference, still cannot access safezone. MBAM is Premium 2.1.6.1022 so those settings must not be appropriate? I’m in windows8/64.
If you uninstall MBAM, reboot your system and reset SafeZone, is it working than as it should ?
Greetz, Red.
Me again!
I uninstalled Mbam and low and behold the problem lies with that. I could access Safezone without any problems. Just reinstalled Mbam again and I am back to square one with no access again to safezone.
I might have to ask for a refund off Mbam seeing as it is that which is causing the problem.
Any other suggestions before I tear out what little hair I have left :
As mentioned, this is a known conflict with MBam Premium running in real time.
Just curious as I’m not at my Laptop with Avast and MBAM Premium installed together.
Try setting MBAM to not start with Windows and remove all task in the Schedules.
Run MBAM scan only On Demand, not in the background.
I believe SafeZone should work fine.
The problem is that we don’t know why this is hapening.
We never got a clear answer from Avast! on this.
What we do know is, that it is a problem with MBAM Premium, and NOT with MBAM Free.
Also that what I posted in Reply #12 has helped some users.
What you could try is to exclude the Avast! program folder in MBAM ( I have never tested that ):
Go to : MBAM - Settings - Malware Exclusions - Add Folder … and select :
C:\Program Files\Avast Software\Avast
Reset SafeZone and reboot.
That said, in AVAST 2015 R3, that is planned to be released ~ June/July, the Sandbox and SafeZone will be completely rewritten.
So than this issue could be solved ( or not … ).
Greetz, Red.
Thanks for all the help guys. I have tried both things that you both suggested but still in a lock out mode from safezone. I will wait until June/July to see if it is fixed or not ;D
Your help is appreciated and I guess I will just live without that one facility until it is fixed.
Yes, the exact conflict has yet to be identified.
I believe the OS could also be an element.
I have ‘No SafeZone Issue’ on my xpSP4 32 Bit OS with both MBAM Premium and Avast Premier installed. I use SafeZone regularly almost everyday
I simply only use MBAM on demand and have no services from MBAM running behind the scene.
