it was on my hard drive D.

mostly if not all here in the forum especially the experienced are ready to help… just stay calm and describe what happen before you loss those files… did you run the virus scanner? did avast informed you that it has detected a virus(es)? try to check the avast log viewer…
if thing really are to turn bad i can suggest a software to do recovery of deleted files…

I was copying my photos from my brother’s computer to my flash dirve.I started avast to scan the flash drive.after a few minutes avast showed a screen,it ffound a virus and I clicked on delete the infected files.later I was shocked that it deleted all the files on the hard drive.please try to stay in contact with me,and thanks for answers.

ok. i’ll try my best here…
so here the recovery software am talkin’ about…
try these 2…

1 http://www2.hiren.info/download/freeware/SmartNTFSRecovery.zip

2 http://www2.hiren.info/download/freeware/undelete.zip

download it in your desktop where it is much easy to access,
unzip it then run the installation program, [it doesnt’ require a reboot] then run the main program.

the undelete doesnt need to be installed after you unzipped it you can run it…

and dont put, store, save any files on drive d: as you said, the files that you loss was from drive d: it will be easier to recover…

Your data will be on the hard drive but operating system can not see that. Data-recovery programs can see that data by scanning hard drive.

When you erase a file from the operating system, it just marked on the drive as deleted. When your system needs to store more data on that drive, it will consider files on the drive marked Deleted as being free space, and it copy over them. SO DONT PUT ANY DATA ON DRIVE D:

The Best thing to do in a data loss situation is to make sure no data is written to that drive.

it says eror boot sector reading error.and undelete didnt work

avast deletes the file unrecoverable… sorry.
But avast won’t delete all the files, for sure. It just scans and will delete, if you ask it to do so, the infected ones.
The better is always send the files to Chest and not directly delete. Then you can restore them later…

Recover deleted files? http://www.recuva.com/

tech dont you consider that its the hard drive that fail… maybe we can try the dos base undelete or data recovery programs for the whole drive… to somewhat recover the bootsector, and recover some files if not all?

so what should I do?if I try the recuva will it delete my hard drive?or we can use messenger. twistedtransistor80@hotmail.com .you can addm e.

Maybe you’re right. I just thought, at first time, on the files.

Recuva is the best undelete tool I’ve tested.

Why we have to fix the bootsector of a removable drive (not for booting)?

Recuva is for undeleting not deleting.

hey vartizms ,I added you to messenger.pleaseeeeee helppp

and tech I thank you too for answers.you are excellent but am not.so do not misunderstand me please.I am just asking or sure.

I’m not bothered with your questions. I hope you’re not with my answers
Did you try Recuva?

I will try it,just waiting for a few minutes

I’m stay on-line… I mean, the computer, but I’m going to sleep… it’s late (for me) now…
See you tomorrow.
