Please help asap! My computer is SLOW!!! Malware is definitely present...

Hi there,

Today my computer started to work super slow. I cannot even open programs with it. Please help! I don’t know what to do and I have finals coming up. I have a project I need to work on tonight, so please help.

Thanks!
Connor W.

Please attach your logs. (AdwCleaner, MBAM, OTL and aswMBR…!!)
Instructions: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

OK, and just FYI… I am running a temporary Ubuntu OS off of a flash drive (it is not installed)… Can I retrieve the data through this? It may be easier to fix my computer through Ubuntu… Thoughts?

Thanks!
Connor W.

Anyways, I ran the scans… please still let me know if we can approach this better via Ubuntu. I am currently running in Safe Mode and it is still a little laggy.

Attached are the logs… I will post the aswMBR.exe logs in the next post.

Thanks!

your AdwCleaner log say “Search” …all the crap files listed will not be removed unless you click “delete” as instructed

I tried that but it shut my computer off…

Also, after I’ve run aswMBR.exe my hard drive does not work anymore. It will only go to the Windows load screen, but after that it will not load. I am using a flashdrive Ubuntu boot to try to access it and it is saying this:

Unable to mount SYSTEM
Error mounting /dev/sda1 at /media/ubuntu/SYSTEM: Command-line `mount -t “ntfs” -o “uhelper=udisks2,nodev,nosuid,uid=999,gid=999,dmask=0077,fmask=0177” “/dev/sda1” “/media/ubuntu/SYSTEM”’ exited with non-zero exit status 13: ntfs_attr_pread_i: ntfs_pread failed: Input/output error
Failed to read first NTFS_BLOCK_SIZE bytes of potential restart page.
The file system wasn’t safely closed on Windows. Fixing.
ntfs_attr_pread_i: ntfs_pread failed: Input/output error
Failed to read NTFS $Bitmap: Input/output error
NTFS is either inconsistent, or there is a hardware fault, or it’s a
SoftRAID/FakeRAID hardware. In the first case run chkdsk /f on Windows
then reboot into Windows twice. The usage of the /f parameter is very
important! If the device is a SoftRAID/FakeRAID then first activate
it and mount a different device under the /dev/mapper/ directory, (e.g.
/dev/mapper/nvidia_eahaabcc1). Please see the ‘dmraid’ documentation
for more details.

Please help. I’m screwed.

I tried that but it shut my computer off...
as it say in the instruction......

Once done it will ask to reboot, allow this
On reboot a log will be produced please attach that

anyway, removal expert is notified…

  3. If after the reboot you get errors about programmes being marked for deletion then reboot, that will cure it.

Please make sure you include the combo fix log in your next reply as well as describe how your computer is running now

I cant even get to the Windows OS though… It’s only the Ubuntu OS I am running off a flash drive. My hard drive is messes up (I think).

Will this erase my current hard drive? I have some files on there that I need and I cannot erase…

Thanks!
Connor W.

NO this will just install the recovery console, thereby enabling me to work prior to windows loading. All files are safe

I tried running this but no dice… The hard drive light is stuck on and it won’t do anything… I followed all of the instructions to the T.

The hard drive should only start running when FRST is active, was it doing that as soon as you booted from the USB ?

No. I boot the computer, hit f12 to reach the boot menu, select USB Storage, then says “Windows is loading files”, and then it goes to a black screen a the hard drive light goes on and barely flickers off. I can only see the mouse on the screen…

Sounds to me like a hard drive problem or there is something wrong with the bootloader. Now the only way I could look at that is with Gparted, however if the HDD locks then even that would not work

Dang… Are there any other options? I need those files off my hard drive… Any hope?

The only alternative is to remove the hard drive, put it in a USB caddy and then plug into another system and remove the data from there

Oh OK. So I’m guessing it will read off just like a flash drive?
