please help, avast can't be turned on or uninstall

Please help,

this morning I turned on my notebook and said it failed to start. So it did a system repair, then when I can log in, the avast gadget was red (unsecured). I tried to turn it on, nothing. then I try to uninstall it the i got this message : Error reading product data C:\program files\alwil software\avast5\setup\part-setup_ais-509.vpx. setup cannot continue. what can id o to fix this? :cry:

  • Which versionā€¦??
  • OSā€¦?? (32/64 Bitā€¦? - which SPā€¦?)
  • Other security related software installedā€¦??

download the uninstall tools from avast! http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear.exe

Also of note: In order to uninstall Avast using aswclear.exe you must boot into safe mode first.
