I have read the other posts about this subject, but I don’t understand! I am not very techi, so I am confused. Please help!
It seems Avast has no way of deleting or moving these files! How can I get rid of them? Are they dangerous? My computer seems to be slowing WAY DOWN lately and I fear these files are causing it. The files are as follows:
c:\Documents and Settings\e6s4life\AppData\Local\Temp\Patcher\Patcher5308\StagingArea\2857\data\database\data\ibdata1
c:\Documents and Settings\e6s4life\AppData\Local\Temp\Patcher\Patcher5308\ZippedStagingArea\PatchFiles.zip\2857\data\database\data\ibdata1
C:\Program Files\CommonFiles\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS3\Server\plugins\com.adobe.versioncue.persistence_3.0.0\template\vcdbtemplate.zip\data\database\data\ibdata1
C:\Program Files\CommonFiles\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS3\Server\plugins\com.adobe.versioncue.persistence_3.1.0\template\vcdbtemplate.zip\data\database\data\ibdata1
c:\Users\e6s4life\AppData\Local\Application Data\Temp\Patcher\Patcher5308\StagingArea\2857\data\database\data\ibdata1

C:\Users\e6s4life\Local Settings\Temp\Patcher\Patcher5308\StagingArea\2857\data\database\data\ibdata1
C:\Users\e6s4life\Local Settings\Temp\Patcher\Patcher5308\ZippedStagingArea\PatchFiles.zip\2857\data\database\data\ibdata1
Please Reply as I am frustrated with this situation.
Thanks
Short answer do nothing, there is nothing to worry about.
Slight ly longer answer:
So it is just a highly compressed file that when unzipped to scan the contents could be very, very large. Archive files are by their nature inert, e.g. they have to be unpacked and any executable would have to be run (assuming it was malicious) before it was dangerous and before it could be run avast’s on-access scanner would have scanned the file on extraction and certainly before being run.
So as I said nothing to worry about, the decompression bomb style of alert isn’t an indication that this is an infected file it just relates to its size, don’t delete it/them.
These files would be unrelated to any slowdown as I have said they are inert.
I take it that you are familiar with the locations involved, e.g. Patcher and what it is used for ?
If it is a valid application then you could exclude them from scans, but it may be simpler just to ignore the entries in the list of files that can’t be scanned.
Thank you for your answer. I do not know what a patcher is or what the basic locations are. These things just showed up after the scan and they could be neither deleted, nor moved, so I was concerned that they could be malicious.
If something can’t be scanned by Avast, does that mean that it is harmless unless it is labled as “recommended it be moved to the Chest?”
Well I doubt avast would label it to be moved to the chest just because it can’t be scanned. Files that can’t be scanned are just than so you shouldn’t read too much into it.
I was kind of hoping that you would know if you had an application that is being updated and uses some form of patching.
See if there is any info in this google searche that ring any bells with you:

Since they are in a Temporary location you could simply clean out your temp files, try this program, CCleaner - Temp File Cleaner, etc..
