Please Help...Cant get online??

I downloaded the avast free addition onto my computer (hp/ laptop/ vista) And it is working Great!
I then downloaded it onto my husbands computer (hp/laptop/vista) and it works but his computer wont go online? And the Lynksys says network offline? My computer and my grandsons computer also use this network and we are online!

If I take the avast anti virus off his computer he goes back online…when I put it back on it wont go online?? HELP!!

We need an antivirus program but he also needs to be online!

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Okay, Are you by any chance hitting than offline online button. Or does avast not work with it or what am I saying? Try change settings

What are you using for a firewall on the computer that is having the problem?

Okay, then it shouldn’t be firewall related. Next question, what was the previous antivirus installed and how was it removed?

It was Norton, and I removed it from remove programs,

Norton is a pig to remove and frequently leaves remnants that conflict with the new security software.

Can I do this on my computer even though i have avast on it now? will that mess up anything?

Yes, you can, we wouldn’t suggest it if you couldn’t.

It is possible that avast still won’t work as when it finds the presence (or remnants) of another AV it may disable elements to avoid a conflict. So you may need to reinstall avast (uninstall, reboot, install, reboot.uninstall, reboot, install, reboot.) if still experiencing problems after using the SymNRT tool.

Yes, you could do so.
If anything (not probable) happens with avast installation, repair it:
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
If this does not help, follow reinstallation procedure posted by David.
