Please help, essexboy

Hello

I was using my computer the other day and it randomly freezes so I had to turn it off. When I turned it back on, I was confronted by the BSOD while it was trying to start up. I looked up possible causes of this and found out a lot of people had the same problem. I ran essexboy’s program and followed his steps. All I need is my FRST.txt to be dealt with. I’d really appreciate the help. And sorry if i was supposed to put this on another topic. New to using forums.

I presume you can’t boot as it hangs on aswrvrt?

Essexboy notified.

Hi there from the reatogo desktop could you run command prompt and type in the following :

chkdsk c: /r

On completion try a normal boot

Yeah, it was stopping at aswrvrt. Forgot to mention that.

I ran chkdsk c: /r but it keeps hanging on different parts of the process. It stopped one time on file verification so i restarted to try again, but now it’s hanging after index verification completes. Should keep doing what I’m doing by restarting the chkdsk process?

My thoughts are that the MFT is corrupt so it may take up to an hour to run through fully, dependant on the drive state

Alright. Well I’ll keep it running and inform you if it progresses more. I have work in an hour and a half so I may not be able to comment on it’s progression till later tonight or tomorrow.

Timing is no problem

So I tried letting chkdsk c: /r run while I was at work yesterday, hoping that would give it ample time to run, but when I got home it was stuck right after the indexes verified process. I attempted to do it over again and let it run over night, but I woke up to the the window full of “File record segment x is unreadable”. Any ideas what to do from here?

The MFT appears to be corrupted beyond repair I am afraid

You can use Reatogo to backup your files but a reformat is needed

Ugh I thought so. I’ve already came to terms with that. I tried using that program to go to my C: in my computer, but it said it need to be formatted. Will formatting it make me lose all my data?

Yes I am afraid so, Reatogo does not see any data then ?

If Reatogo fails. Hirens might be able to help you. (Go into Linux)

Hirens Dowload. http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/

How to boot using Hirens (Placing files, reformatting drives etc.)
http://www.hirensbootcd.org/usb-booting/

I will warn you now. Doing what I suggested above can take a very long time. I’m talking upwards of 1-3 hours depending on your computer. For me to set one up from scratch (Download, install format).

5+ Minutes for DL
1+ Hour for reformat of USB
1 Minute for dragging/dropping files. I can make a short video when I get home.

My DL speed is 80MegaBits by the way. The total download is over half a gigabyte. Which is a very large download.

On top of that, just to give you an idea. I’m using an i7 and a 7200RPM drive w/ 16GB of RAM. Making this will take a very long time. I can’t stress it more.

I don’t think anything will show. I went to my computer and looked under the local disk and it says it isn’t formatted and gives me the option if I want to or not. I’ll try your way Michael. I’m downloading Hirens now. I’ll post any progress I make if I even make any before work

My UDISK also has something very wrong with it >:(. So that means, no video Yay! (Sarcasim).

I hope the instructions from Hirens is clear enough, if not, do let me know!

I tried using Hirens, but it couldn’t find anything on my C: drive either. Looks like my stuff is irretrievable  I’m just going to reformat my hard drive and start anew. I really appreciate you guys trying to help my situation. If I ever come into a problem like this again, I’ll be sure to ask for your help

Sorry that I couldn’t be more help with Hiren’s. Sorry the info was lost with the MFT being corrupt

Meh, again I’ve came to terms with it. At least I can start again and it being faster without all the unneeded junk on it. I appreciate the help
