Another 2. Please note that, when I ran aswMBR in normal mode it caused a blue screen of death when it started to scan certain file. But ran perfectly without errors in safe mode. I obtained these 2 in safe mode. I’m unable to attach MBR.dat file. Please help me eliminate these viruses.
they are not virus…but a result of you doing a custom scan and selecting “scan memory”
posted a million times in here so if you do a forum search there is lots of info
Then what is causing those problems?
hi sepiashimmer,
I saw the referenced post. It was about scanning processes in memory, and some antivirus or antispyware programs will, when told to scan memory, will see a good and clean windows process as a virus when it is not. A process is not a file, so it cannot be quarantined or moved by an antivirus program, as there is nothing to move. Only files on the hard disk can be quarantined.
Running two active real-time scanning antiviruses at the same time on the same system can cause this also.
Reason? Each see the other’s malware definitions running in memory and think there is an active virus in the house. Worst that can happen is that the system will lock up irrevocably as the two a/v’s fight it out over the same process at the same time.
Solution? Do not use custom-made scans unless you understand the ramifications of such a decision.
