Hey all, I restored my computer b/c of an issue unrelated to AVAST, and now it says it’s not running. I purchased premier package about 3 weeks ago and it’s valid til 2014. Please help.
Do you mean system restore ( Windows restore ) ? You have to deactivate self-defence module in Avast! before doing a restore otherwise Avast! gets all belly up.
The only way to fix it is to reinstall Avast!. Follow this guide please.
Install from scratch:
1.) Very important to remove all remains of other AVs installed before Avast. Use this site to execute uninstall utilities for other AVs.

2.) Download and save to your desktop aswclear.exe
3.) Download and save a fresh copy of Avast!. Be sure to have your lincense handy if running a paid version.

4.) Open Avast! > Settings > Troubleshooting > Uncheck " Enable Avast! self-defense module ".
5.) Uninstall Avast! normally through Control Panel > Programs & feature ( Vista, W7 ) or Add and remove programs ( XP ). Reboot. If you can not complete this step, continue with step # 6
6.) Even if you were able to uninstall Avast! in step # 5, it is important to run aswclear.exe in safe mode for any Avast! you may have had before, e.g. v.6 o v.7, and then for v. 8. Reboot into normal mode after uninstall.

NOTE: aswclear has the ability to make your system go into Safe Mode. Just run it in normal mode and follow instructions.
7.) Reinstall fresh copy of Avast! and reboot.
Be aware. Avast! will offer Chrome during installment. Remember to opt-out if you do not want it.
howdy, I am having an issue that started when i bought the Premier package. I filled out everything I was supposed to, but at the end of it the email address happened to be wrong at the end of it all. ( the @ yahoo ended having the letters mixed up a bit) and now I cannot activate the license at all… and having to rebuild my PC again I have no way of knowing how to get the license to the right email and on to my newly rebuilt PC. this happened in July with buying Premier and the rebuild in the last week and a half. what can I do, anything or am I screwed? Thanks for any help.
