Please help with Win32 Trojan-gen, PUP Win32:'s Zwunzi, Relevant, PUP-gen

Hi, I am a new Avast user and probably about average in computer knowledge. My system is Winxp service pack 2 on a dell 2400 machine.

Last night I ran a full system scan and it showed infection by Win32 Trojan-gen. I had the program delete it but maybe I should have had it put in the chest instead? This morning I had it run a boot scan and the PUP Win32 viruses Zwunzi, Relevant and PUP-gen were reported, these were put in the chest with the exception of PUP-gen which Avast couldn’t locate and neither could I when I searched the system for it.

I also note that the scheduled scan function isn’t working in Avast either for full system scans or the boot scan and the boot scan took over 2 hours, is that usual? I think it possible that the malfunction of Avast’s scheduled scan is due to one of the viruses because the anti-virus I had before also wouldn’t run scheduled scans. I had thought it was because the former atv was buggy but now I am wondering…

Also, I have both google chrome and Opera browsers and I notice that there are two sets of application rules for Opera and only one for Chrome and that one of the Opera application rules allows “All Connections” with full trust while the other is “internet Out” (otherwise auto-decide) with three bars of trust and Chrome is also the same as the later Google. I don’t know if this info is relevant to my virus problems, but I am curious as to the discrepancies.

Thanks in advance.

Looks like a good community here.

Clean, Quarantine, or Delete? http://antivirus.about.com/b/2007/03/11/clean-quarantine-or-delete.htm

PUP = not a virus / Possible Unwanted Program
pup scan is default off in quick/full scan…but on in boot scan
so you need to know what is detected…and if it is something you want before you remove it
