I am confused. Is Avast only able to scan Outlook Express, Outlook? I use AOL email all the time and I see nothing about avast in mail sent so my ? is do I have to set up my mail to come from AOL into Outlook Express to have Avast email coverage?
I did read the help info but just am not sure. Aol window start window shows I have mail coverage on but that may only be because they offer McAfee and I prefer to have Avast.
I know AOL says OE can be used but I didn’t want all the extra nuisance in setting that up because it is so much simpler to just use aol email. I hope I have made myself clear and would so appreciate help with this. thanks ???
I don’t believe so because AOL uses a different protocol for its email client not pop3, smtp or imap.
I’m not an AOHeller, so I can’t confirm this, but for a long time AOL used a proprietary email client. If AOL’s email client uses pop3, smtp and/or imap protocols then yes it should be scanned.
AOHell uses a propritary email program that as far as I’m aware isn’t covered by avast, A forums search for AOL email is likely to return more information.

Thanks for your help. Actually since I asked for help I have decided to change on line servers shortly because of a terrible ordeal and expense caused by AOL who now wants to pacify me with one month free; I got 3 free months just to join and now they cost me over $100. They kept insisting billing doesn’t put up windows that you can’t close off, but they did and Best Buy said it was them all along and not something on my comp that aol personel both in billing and tech’s insisted had to be other than aol. Well! that is absolutely not so!
Sorry! So will not be needing this information. Am thinking about trying peoplepc because verizon doesn’t have broadband access yet in my area.
Good luck in your search for a new ISP.
I you have any problems let us know, welcome to the forums.
