I used to run a proxy server on my home computer with THIS software. I had used it on my old computer when I had used Windows Live OneCare for antivirus. Well my old computer broke due to hardware problems and I had to rebuild my PC. When I rebuilt I decided to use Avast! Home Edition for antivirus because it was free and because I had heard some good reviews about it. Now when I went to download this program again Avast! was telling me that it was a virus but I trust this program so I had to disable the On-Access Protection just to download and install the program. Now I can’t run it because Avast! still thinks it’s a virus/worm. Is there a way I can put that program on a “Safe Programs” or “Trusted Programs” list so that Avast! does not scan it and not let it run because it thinks it’s a virus. Help would be very greatly appreciated. Thank You.
Yes, but please upload it to Virus Total first and post the results of the scans.
I scanned the install folder of the program and whenever Avast! found a virus i copied the link and pasted it into the Virus Total Upload and Scan thing. Here are the links to the results of the six files that Avast! found to be viruses. Now can you please tell me how to put these files in a “Trusted Programs” list or some type of ignore list for Avast!. PLEASE!
2 locations right click Avast task bar Icon select On Access Protection Control–Standard Shield/Customize/Advanced Add program location
right click Avast task bar Icon–Program Settings/Exclusions.
Thank You VERY, VERY much
Welcome to the forum Dave glad it worked for ya
all the best
I don’t see any VT images in the above links so I assume that they time expired, I also assume that they proved to be false detections, e.g. avast was the only AV to detect them ?
If so the job’s not done yet, having excluded the files you should send the samples to avast for analysis and correction of the VPS.
If you are getting a virus warning that you believe is a false positive, then if you can zip and password protect (‘virus’, will do) the suspect file and send it to virus @ avast.com (no spaces), or send from the chest (after adding it to the User Files section of the chest).
Give a brief outline of the problem (possibly a link to this thread), the fact that you believe it to be a false positive and include the password in the body of the email. Some info on the avast version and VPS number (see about avast {right click avast icon}) will also help.
Correct David Avast was the only one to detect Lozdodge v1.00 as a possible virus…conclusion FP
Thanks, only thing left for PeasantDave to do is submit the samples to avast.
Good advise David hope this is so. I keep forgetting to add this important detail ???
Done.
