When i go to move my avast to the trash for my mac it says that i cannot continue emptying my trash because com.avast.macavast.mad is still running. How do i turn it off so i can delete the application?

Also you can quit the com.avast.macavast.mad process using the Activity Monitor if necessary
The best method is:
- ensure that the app is not in persistent mode (look in Preferences, persistent mode is default on Leopard)
- quit both application and agent (upper menubar, disabled persistence won’t start it again now)
- put the app to the trashcan
Other methods might cause problems such as remaining items in launchd’s list etc.
