Should the PUP scan be on when doing a full scan in Avast?
That is, in my opinion, a preference that you can choose for yourself. PUP is Potentially Unwanted Program. If you do use this setting and something is detected, be sure that it is something that really is bad before you remove it just like you would a detection of a virus. You don't want to remove something that might be a false positive.
And if I use one of the third party firewalls you have kindly suggested will it not clash with windows firewall?
If you do decide to use either of the two that I listed, they will automatically disable the Windows firewall by default so that there will not be a conflict.
