Hi Martin…
Welcome to the forums.
No, I don’t think I’ve ever had that happen. Which version were you trying to upgrade to?
Best Regards…
I have never experienced anything like this when updating a program with avast running.
You don’t say what version of IE you were upgrading to nor on what OS ?
I have resisted upgrading IE6 on my new system XP Pro SP3 as I don’t use IE, even though it is integrated into the OS, as long as IE6 is still supported by security updates I will kep it, by that time IE8 will probably be a regular not beta or RC version.
As and when I do get round to updating, avast will remain on.
I had no problems upgrading from IE6 to IE7 on Vista SP1 but had a lot of trouble with IE8 b2. Don’t trust the betas!..
Which is your firewall?
I had never a problem updating Internet Explorer or the operational system with avast stable version running.
Hi,
Can you send iesetup.log from Windows directory?
Sometimes it’s permission problem to the registry not a antivirus program.
