Enjoy using AVAST Home free edition (better than AVG) but it would seem according to PocoSystems that it is the culprit for stripping codes from newsletters.
If i disable AVAST it still happens and i really don’t want to uninstall this fine product. In fact, with Poco Mail’s past of glitches i’m more confident about AVAST than Poco.
In Poco’s forum it was suggested to disable AVAST’s in and out check. Makes sense?
What exactly does it mean “stripping codes from newsletters”?
avast doesn’t strip parts of email newsletters.
It may warn of virus infection, in which case you choose to delete or move to chest, etc. but it doesn’t strip codes (what ever you mean by that?). It may delete an infected attachment, again on your instruction, but it doesn’t strip codes. It may add lines of text to state that your email is clean, again on your instruction/settings, but it doesn’t strip codes.
I think you are getting the picture, someone is obviously adding up 2+2 and getting 5.
What i mean is the message appear in this manner:

So you say that if you disable avast!, the same problem keeps happening? If yes, then it probably has nothing to do with avast!.
If the problem occurred only with avast! resident protection running and disappeared when it’s stopped, I would suggest to send us a pair of e-mails (in .eml format): one received with the resident protection on and the other with the protection off - so that we could compare the differences.
When i disable AVAST it still remains in the background.
I must do ctrl + alt + delete to see where it stands and disable another three items to get the icon out of the taskbar and complete stopped from running.
Apart from this, a few questions arise.
Why this hyper text stripping doesn’t happen in Thunderbird or Outlook?
Why it won’t do it on another newsletter i’m subscribed to even if AVAST is still running?
Looking at it from this point of view, it can’t be an AVAST problem can it!
If you want to stop avast! from monitoring your e-mail, it should be enough to stop the Internet Mail provider - no need to kill all the processes.
Anyway, are you saying the even if you kill all the processes, the problem still remains?

Exactly. The problem remains even if AVAST is totally disabled (running processes also). Another newsletter i’m subscribed to came in yesterday and the codes were okay. That’s why i’m now convinced that it has to be a POCO problem and not an AVAST one.
