I recently purchased avast premier software, which didn’t install correctly and the firewall would not turn on! I am running Windows 10 which was also corrupted by the anti-virus software. I immediately rang the support department saying I was unhappy with the software and advised them I wanted to cancel my subscription. I am still awaiting a full refund after two days of emails

avast did not crippled Windows 10.
It is Windows 10 that has a couple of problems that Microsoft need to fix.

What you called is a third party that only handles a very small amount of things for avast.

Submitting multiple tickets will make that you have to wait longer for a response.
It is a FiFo system that is used.
avast is trying to handle tickets within 10 business days.

For the problem with Windows you only need to reboot in safe mode with networking and then in normal mode again.

For the problem with the firewall, a repair will (or at least should) solve it.
