Just installed new avast mobile security on my motorola razor … after reading about all the features one thing puzzles me … if the program is supposed to be “Hidden” or “Disguised” so that a potential thief wont even know it’s there … then why is the avast icon now on my notifications line for everyone to see ???
This is discussed here in some detail>>http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=92021.0
Still could be a little less obvious by Not putting the Avast ball icon right on the top of the main screen. But then how would you get into the app … enter your pword … and make changes … etc. ? Catch 22 ???
There is a sort of “conflict of interest”…with an anti-theft, it is best to have it as low-profile and hidden as can be…with an anti-virus, the “Avast! way” of doing things (and the good way, imo, but opinions differ) is to be viewable and loud so you know if something is amiss.
Any in-depth help will have to come from someone with more hands-on with the product, I only played around with the Beta for a bit. But I know for sure that you can install only the anti-theft (if the AV does not matter much to you) and this lets you stealth it much better.
I have the same problem as other users: the so-called “stealth” feature doesn’t appear to work at all. The avast! symbol appears in the notification bar and the icon appears on my home page and in my applications. In both cases the anti-theft setup options are present - a bit of a clue for the thief. I have tested this with screen lock enabled and disabled, and with SIM card lock enabled and disabled and it doesn’t seem to make any difference. The only thing that does work as advertised is the alias application in the manage applications list. I am using a Galaxy S.
I use LauncherPro on my Android Phone and it has a feature to hide application icons. The Avast app is now hidden and I have removed the icon in the status bar. Total stealth !
