This keeps popping up every 20 sec or so on my computer:
SSL/TLS connection detected
Avast! has detected a secure connection from your mail shield…
What do I do about it and what does it mean ?
If anybody knows what to do or can direct me to other posts that may help I would be very grateful!!

This approach did not work because disabling the SSL connection in Outlook causes Gmail not to connect to the Gmail server.

when you do you must of course enable SSL in avast…so it can take care of the SSL connection
just so you know. google protect all gmail accounts with postini spam/virus filter using authentium and McAfee virus engines
so the mail is already scanned before you get it
