I recently experienced a Windowes 7, 64 bit failure and had to reformat my hard drive. I re-installed Avast! (the free version) and I guess it’s working, but I’m not getting those pop-up notifiers with audio that used to scrae me when the speaker volume was too high. I’ve checked all the appropriate boxes (I think) in the set-up screens, but still no notifications. Has anyone else experienced that? What can I do to restore the notifier pop-ups?

when did you reinstall avast?

Are you able to hear any other sounds ? MP3’s etc.
The sound is on in avast by default and should look like this:

Have you rebooted your system since you installed avast! ???
@pondus: Re-installed about a month ago. Problem is not high priority, just wondering id Avast! is actually working…

Do I need to remove other virus programs? I also use “Ccleaner” on a regular basis. Perhaps that is disabling Avast!?
Ccleaner is something most of us use and isn’t a problem. Other resident AV programs are a definitely no no and must be removed using
the removal tool each of the Security Companies make available.
We usually get the one needed from here.
I’m also using free edition of avast and this happened to me to but i figured out that every time i set Croatian language instead English there is no sound notification.Perhaps that’s the issue in your case
