Pop-up weeks after last update. Normal, error, or virus?

Hi,

Could this be caused by malware?

I saw today a large black / gray pop-up box that said:-

“Complete your Avast! software update.
You are almost done. Click “Finish” to complate your update.”
and some update notes.

The box appeared when logging off an admin account and then logging on to a limited account.
The Avast program hasn’t been updated for weeks.

I don’t get the box all the time, this is the first time since the one you get just after an avast program update.
It does not come back if I restart. Could avast have been corrupted by a virus?

version: 7.0.1456
defs: 120821-0
Windows XP sp3

Many thanks.

PS. I’ve not been to any websites for the past 4 days on that PC, does that make any difference?

(Edited to be a shorter message and add photo)

hey it should only come up ones and that’s after it have been updated. you should just click finish and it should be gone. if not it could have been something in the update that was not 1000% ok so a clean installation from scratch usually solved that.

it is a bug, the latest stable version 7.0.1466 must fix it

You need to reboot to the admin account to finish the installation… If you reboot to a different account (limited user) then Avast will not complete until you restart in the Admin account
