I have just downloaded Avast for personal use and I now have the blue ball but also another symbol. This facilitates a pop up which every so often arrives on screen along with voice giving me a message. How can I disable this pop up as I don’t need the voice distorting stuff that is already going on, such as listening to something ??? Thank you

You need to disable virus database update notifications:

If you right-click on the ‘i’ blue ball, you can merge it with the main ‘a’ avast! ball in the notification area.

You can also disable only the popup or only the sounds, or both.

Thank you. But “how” do I stop just the sound/pop up or indeed merge the blue ball with…what? Sorry, I am not much good with with a lot of techie stuff, no matter how simple ??? !!!Thanks again

The link I posted previously has a screen shot from DavidR showing how to change notification settings.

If you right-click on the i-ball, there will be a option saying ‘merge’.
