Popup - "Avast has crashed. Click to restore" - but Avast was running.

Avast Free 12.1.2272

Just saw a bubble popup on the right side of my System Tray which stated (paraphrased - Didn’t copy it) “Avast has crashed. Click here to restore”.

I didn’t click on it. Avast icon was in the System Tray, I initialized Avast UI, bubble popup warning disappeared, Avast was running fine as far as I could tell - clicked on “Update Virus Definitions” and it did so promptly.
At some point the bubble popup warning had disappeared.

Was this a trojan/fake warning? Or a legitimate Avast bubble popup which was incorrect?

When did this happen (right after boot, etc.) ?
If you right click on the avast tray icon and select ‘Show last popup message.’

Provided you haven’t rebooted or had another popup that will show the content of the popup. This should give you time to take a screenshot and attach that here.

If it is able to ‘Show last popup message’ it would be a pretty reasonable assumption it wasn’t a fake alert.
